Aquascaping
I’ve been intrigued by aquascaping for a long time, but I have never tried it myself until recently. It was a much steeper learning curve than I expected, the initial cycling was very concerning as I watched my brand new jars turn grey, slimy, and made fart-smelling bubbles. I thankfully had great support from the aquarium boys at the Villeurbanne Aquarium who were able to help stabilize my system and introduce cherry shrimps and eventually a group of rice fish. I learned the balance between interfering and letting nature do it’s thing.
To me, the joy of aquascaping is partnering with nature to create unique works of art. You don’t always know how things will turn out and sometimes you have to allow chaos to unfold before nature reaches a healthy system equilibrium.
